2018 Acura MDX Visibility Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the visibility system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Visibility reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Acura & the service center ripped me . The issue in the car started on aroud start of septmber 2022 . They did some front glass replacement which is not under warranty . When I purchased the car from Acura it was an Acura certified car and had a 7 year warranty on it.But your service center is saying it is not under warranty . The issue caused the leak is not from any of my mistakes , I only fixed the car at the same service center which also concerns me about Acura brand reliability . The Carpet was covered under my insurance and the 30 days I didn't get a loaner car from your dealership . I need to have a big fight with your dealer to get this issue resolved and then I got one . This 30 days car I spent nearly 400$ with insurance to have a car . I agree the supply chain issue caused a 5 months delay for the carpet . I raised the concern in December that the car is ideal for the service center and has any issues .Please see the rust happen under the seat rails . This is concerning me .I am not sure how much rust is under the carpet now . I spent 1076.76 on the car for this issue but the rust in the bottom of the car concerns me a lot . Also in the bill they say it vacuumed all the interior but 3 rows was a mess with old carpet . I am not expecting this experience from a premium brand service . Added the ticket with Acura and they assure they will look with the service and nothing happened . Now my insurance went up . I am concern on the resale value of my car .

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT'S BLURRY ALONG THE EDGE AND HARD TO LOOK OUT ESPECIALLY TO CHECK FOR ON COMING TRAFFIC FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. IT IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE AND SEE PROPERLY OUT THAT WINDOW.

THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS DISTORTED ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE. THE DISTORTION MAKES IT HARD TO SEE THINGS CLEARLY AND MAKES ME FEEL DIZZY WHEN DRIVING. IT'S LIKE LOOKING THROUGH AN HOURGLASS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD DIFFICULTY PARKING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I ALMOST HIT A CAR IN A PARKING LOT BECAUSE OF IT.

TAKATA RECALL: CORRECTION FOR COMPLAINT #11164408. REAR VIEW CAMERA REMAINS IN THE REVERSE POSITION WHEN I SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. CONSEQUENTLY, I AM DRIVING WITH A VIEW OF THE ROAD BEHIND ME. THIS HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES. I REPORTED THIS TO ACURA OF PEORA, AZ. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A DAY BUT DIDN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE CONTACTING ACURA HEADQUARTERS AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPLACE A $3000 SYSTEM WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM ACURA HEADQUARTERS.

THE 2018 ACURA MDX HAS WINDSHIELD DISTORTIONS AFFECTING VISIBILITY AND CAN LEAD TO DIZZINESS RESULTING FROM VISUAL VERTIGO. IMAGES SEEN THROUGH THE OUTER EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD ARE DISTORTED. STRAIGHT LINES (ROAD BARRIERS, LINES ON THE STREET, FENCES, CURBS, ETC) APPEAR BENT/CURVED. OBJECTS ALSO QUICKLY MAGNIFY AND THEN REVERT TO NORMAL SIZE CAUSING BLURRYINESS AS WELL AS AFFECTING THE ABILITY TO DETERMINE ACCURACY OF OBJECT PLACEMENT AROUND YOU WHEN DRIVING. THE WINDSHIELD IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD PUTTING DRIVERS AT RISK FOR ACCIDENTS. AFTER JUST DRIVING IT JUST A FEW MILES, I BEGAN TO NOTICE DIZZINESS AND RESULTING NAUSEA FROM OBJECT DISTORTIONS. I ATTEMPTED TO NOT LOOK OUT THAT PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD AND FOCUSED LOOKING STRAIGHT WERE OBJECTS WERE CLEAR AND ACCURATE TO SIZE/SHAPE. BUT FOR SAFETY REASONS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO NEGLECT A LARGE PORTION OF THE VISUAL FIELD WHEN OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE.
