2022 Alliance Rv Valor Owner Complaints

This complaint concerns the structural frame and chassis assembly of this fifth-wheel trailer, specifically the upper deck/front bedroom area and supporting structure. While operating the trailer within the manufacturer's published weight limits (GVWR: 20,000 lbs; Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,258 lbs), we experienced repeated structural movement and frame flex during normal highway towing. Over time, the condition progressively worsened and resulted in movement of the upper deck structure, shifting and separation of interior walls and trim, door and frame misalignment, repeated structural popping noises while towing, visible distortion around structural components, and components shifting out of square. These symptoms were repeatable and occurred during normal use. The condition continued to worsen over the course of ownership rather than being an isolated incident. Because the structural movement involved the primary frame and load-bearing portions of the trailer, we became increasingly concerned about the structural integrity of the unit during highway travel. The repeated movement and progression of the condition caused us to lose confidence in the trailer's ability to safely withstand normal towing forces, particularly while traveling with our family. As the condition worsened, we limited towing and ultimately sought a permanent resolution from the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified and inspected the trailer on multiple occasions. Repair attempts were performed; however, the structural symptoms continued to reoccur after those repairs. Ultimately, rather than continuing additional repairs, the manufacturer elected to provide a collateral exchange into a replacement trailer. The original trailer is no longer in our possession because it was exchanged with the manufacturer. However, the VIN is known. I am submitting this complaint so there is a permanent safety record associated with this VIN and so NHTSA is aware of this structural defect of this model

The contact owns a 2022 Alliance RV Valor. The contact stated that while the RV was hitched to the vehicle and traveling, the contact and her husband noticed an unusual odor. The RV was parked, and upon inspection, they observed a burned area and smoke coming from the roof-mounted solar panels. Further inspection revealed that the electrical wiring and attachments were burned and melted. Additionally, the ceiling and insulation were burned. The contact's husband disconnected all electrical appliances and wiring to prevent further damage. The burning odor was strong within the interior of the RV and caused both individuals to become nauseous from inhalation; however, no medical treatment was required. The contact stated that the RV was unsafe, and it was a known failure with the model. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but the manufacturer offered no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. No further information was available.

On Sunday, May 21st, my daughter and I were napping when they woke up to toxic smell, smelt like something electrical burning, we exited the trailer immediately. Waited for the trailer to air out some and searched down the area (the under compartment assessable from the outside of the trailer, under the master bedroom area. We saw smoke coming from a box/plate. It said transfer switch on the metal box plate. We took the plate lid off and saw melted plastic, wires arcing, and missing screws. It also had torque rating and other information regarding what it was. We found 1 screw on the floor of the under compartment. After evaluating this transfer switch, we noticed there were more missing screws then the one we found on the floor. It was obvious that it was not installed properly or finished. I spoke with one of the warranty managers at the dealer we purchased it from, said he would talk to his boss as they would be in contact with Alliance RV as they work closes with them on warranty. Since we had no power (solar, generator, or shore power) our family had no choice but to pack up belongings and find somewhere else to stay for the time being. Since this was our home while we were in transition with selling our house. The dealer worked with the manufacturer and replaced necessary parts. After this it was hard to feel safe in the trailer, knowing the trailer was not manufactured properly or didn't have quality control before leaving the manufacturer. someone didn't do their job and it could have taken our lives.
