The defect: Altec LLC (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 ALTEC LLC/LIFT-ALL LSS aerial devices manufactured December 2008 through October 2009. Cracks may develop in the turntable.
The risk: Cracks may result in failure of the aerial device, increasing the risk of personal injury to the worker or those nearby.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners to inspect the turntable. A stiffener repair kit will be installed on the turntable, free of charge. The recall began during August 2013. Owners may contact Altec at 1-800-860-0183. Altec's recall number is CSN 582.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
