2006 American Coach American Eagle Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHILE PARKED, OUR MAIN DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. MY WIFE AND ANOTHER PERSON WERE INSIDE AND OTHERS OUTSIDE. IT TOOK THE PEOPLE ON THE OUTSIDE PUSHING ON THE DOOR TO PERMIT THE LOCK TO BE RELEASED. THE LOCK IN QUESTION IS THE ONE THAT CAN BE OPENED-LOCKED USING A KEY FOB. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TRYING TO UNLOCK-LOCK-UNLOCK THE DOOR. IT TOOK A NUMBER OF MINUTES OF PUSHING ON THE DOOR TO GET THE LOCK TO RELEASE. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT, I WAS INSIDE THE COACH WHEN THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN DUE TO THE LOCK NOT RELEASING. I PUSHED ON THE DOOR A NUMBER OF TIMES AND ALSO ATTEMPTED TO MANUALLY RELEASE THE LOCK TO NO AVAIL, AT LEAST FOR A FEW MINUTES. IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE, THIS DELAY COULD BE DEADLY. THERE ARE LIMITED OTHER OPTIONS FOR EXITING THE COACH AND ALL WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR MY WIFE DUE TO HER MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND NOT TOO EASY FOR ME EITHER. DATE PROVIDED IS FOR THE FIRST INCIDENT MENTIONED. *TT *TR
