What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2003 American Ironhorse Tejas, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
Reports by component
Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category
- Brakes120.0%
- Electrical120.0%

- Steering120.0%
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ROTOR CARRIER PART THAT HELD THE BRAKE WAS MANUFACTURED WITH WEAK METAL THAT CRACKED. ALSO, BOTH HANDLE BARS HAD CRACKED AND THE REAR DRIVE PULLEY WAS WORN. THE IGNITION HAD ALSO SHORTED AND SMOKED. ALSO, THE ODOMETER MALFUNCTIONED AND NO LONGER DISPLAYED THE MILEAGE. ALSO, THE REAR TAIL LIGHT BULB MELTED TO THE LENSES. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEMS EXCEPT THE HANDLE BARS. BOTH DEFECTIVE HANDLE BARS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED AND PROMISED TO REPLACE OTHER PARTS BUT HAD NOT. *AK UPDATED 10/31/2006 - THE HANDLE BARS CRACKED ONE WEEK AFTER BEING REPLACED. *NM
