2004 Aprilia Rsv 1000 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO CLAIM #[XXX] . APRILIA HAS DENIED THE REPLACEMENT OF MY GAS TANK. AT THIS POINT, THE TANK HAS SPREAD AROUND THE GAS CAP, THE SEAL BETWEEN THE TANK AND CAP HAS A 2MM GAP IN BETWEEN IT AND THE TANK, AND THE GAS CAP IT SELF IS RECESSING INTO THE TANK. GAS VAPORS HAVE BEEN ESCAPING OUT OF THE CAP AREA, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BREATHE WHILE RIDING AT SLOW SPEEDS. EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF GAS, ENOUGH TO GET IN MY RIDING GEAR IS ESCAPING. APRILIA HAS NOT CONTACTED ME, OR MADE ANY MOVE TO REMEDY THIS. POSSIBLY SEEKING LEGAL ACTION AT THIS POINT, AS THE GAS VAPORS POSE A HUGE THREAT TO MY SAFETY IF I CONTINUE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

2004 APRILIA RSVR FACTORY, SEE COMPLAINT #10334078 AND ALL RELATED. THE FUEL TANKS ARE MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY AS DUCATI OF THE SAME MATERIALS, MY TANK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON CONCERNS OF DRASTICALLY REDUCED MILEAGE - FROM 45-50MPG TO MEASURED 15MPG AND RIPPLED/SPREAD TANK SURFACE, APRILIA DENIED MY CLAIM FILED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AT MOTOCORSA OF PORTLAND. MOTOCORSA ADVISED ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. CONCERNED SPREADING HAS CAUSED SOMEHOW A LEAK OR CREATED PRESSURE FROM SPREADING ON A FUEL LINE TO AFFECT GAS MILEAGE? VERY CONCERNED ABOUT RIDING THIS MOTORCYCLE AND THE POTENTIAL LOSS IN RESALE, AND THE ADDED EXPENSES INCURRED BY HAVING DIAGNOSTIC WORK DONE TO NO AVAIL, AS WELL AS EXTRA UNANTICIPATED COST OF USING A CAR. *TR
