The defect: ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 XPEDITOR TRUCKS, SOME OF THE SEAT BASE MOUNTING FASTENERS THAT SECURE THE SEAT BASE TO THE CAB FLOOR BRACKET MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT LOOSE OR NOT INSTALLED AT ALL. IMPROPERLY TORQUED SEAT-MOUNTING FASTENERS MAY ALLOW MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHILE HE/SHE IS OPERATING THE VEHICLE.
The risk: THIS MOVEMENT COULD RESULT IN A TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The defect: ON CERTAIN HEAVY-DUTY CLASS 8 VEHICLES, THE TABS ON SOME OF THE LIFT AXLE SPINDLE NUTS MAY HAVE BEEN BROKEN DURING ASSEMBLY. WHEN IN PLACE, THE TABS ON THE NUTS PREVENT THE NUTS FROM LOOSENING.
The risk: WHEN THE TABS ARE BROKEN, THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT THE NUT MIGHT SPIN OFF. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE WHEEL AND WHEEL END ASSEMBLY COULD FALL OFF, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE LIFT AXLE SPINDLE NUT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 5, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-765-489-5499.

STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT SECTOR

The defect: ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 TRUCKS, THE BOLT ON THE STEERING SHAFT MAY NOT BE TIGHTENED TO THE CORRECT SPECIFICATION AND THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT DUE TO THE LOOSE NUT, THE YOKE BOLT COULD SLIDE OUT PARTIALLY AND LIMIT THE ROTATION ON THE STEERING SHAFT.
The risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE STEERING BOLT AND TIGHTEN IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 25, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-765-489-5499.
