2008 Baby Trend 6352 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THERE IS NO SPECIFIC INCIDENT BUT BASICALLY THE CARRY HANDLE ON OUR BABYTREND FLEX LOC INFANT CAR SEAT DOES NOT ENGAGE LIKE IT SHOULD. TWO BUTTONS ARE DEPRESSED ON THE CARRY HANDLE TO PUT IT INTO STORAGE/VEHICLE POSITION TO PREVENT ROCKING. PER THE MANUAL, THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE AND IS THE RECOMMENDED USE IN A VEHICLE. THE BUTTONS HAVE BEEN HARD TO PRESS SINCE THE BEGINNING (WE BOUGHT THIS SEAT IN JULY 2008 FOR OUR FIRST SON), AND NOW WITH OUR SECOND SON, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THE HANDLE GO DOWN AND AT TIMES I CANNOT AT ALL AND AM FORCED TO LEAVE IT UP IN THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE OVER TIME. THERE ARE A LOT OF REVIEWS OF THIS SEAT ONLINE NOW AS OPPOSED TO WHEN I BOUGHT AND THEY ALL SEEM TO LIST THIS AS A MAJOR COMPLAINT. I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE SEAT IF I HAD SEEN ALL THOSE REVIEWS BACK THEN. BABYTREND SEEMS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY HAVE A FIX FOR IT. THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE HANDLE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY SHIPPING BACK AND FORTH BECAUSE MY SEAT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY SINCE IT IS TWO YEARS OLD, BUT THAT'S NOT WORTH THE SHIPPING COSTS. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EVER USE THIS SEAT AGAIN OR SELL IT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE. WE WILL BE MOVING MY SON OUT TO A DIFFERENT SEAT NOW THAT HE IS AT THE 22LB LIMIT, BUT THIS SEEMS LIKE AN ISSUE SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE BABYTREND ADDRESS. IF IT'S A KNOWN DEFECT AND A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HAD A RECALL BY NOW. THE MODEL# 6352 AND S/N# CS65332SC005671. FROM THE REVIEWS I HAVE SEEN ONLINE, THIS IS NOT JUST LIMITED TO MY MODEL (THE MODELS HAVE THE SAME DESIGN AND REALLY JUST VARY BY COLOR ANYHOW). THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

MODEL NUMBER: 6352 MANUFACTURED ON: 041008 THE HANDLE RELEASE BUTTONS HAVE BEEN TROUBLESOME SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE IN NOVEMBER 2008 MAKING THE CARRY HANDLE DIFFICULT TO ADJUST. WE HAVE TO USE FORCE SO THAT THE RELEASE BUTTONS CAN ALLOW US TO POSITION THE CARRY HANDLE. WE WERE TRYING TO OVERLOOK THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE EVENTUALLY WE COULD MAKE THE CARRY HANDLE WORK, BUT YESTERDAY 5/18/09, WHEN I WAS LIFTING THE CAR SEAT TO TIE MY INFANT IN, THE CARRY HANDLE DID NOT CLIP AND MY BABY FLIPED OVER FALLING ONTO THE FLOOR FACE FORWARD. I BELIEVE THE DEFECT WITH THE HANDLE RELEASE BUTTONS IS AFFECTING THE CLIPPING OF THE CARRY HANDLE. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION ON HOW TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE RELEASE BUTTONS. *TR

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
