TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A BABY TREND CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT, MODEL NUMBER: TJ94128 (NA), AND MANUFACTURED JULY 7, 2012. THE CHILD SEAT WAS BEING USED IN A 2002 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHILD SEAT LOWER LATCH CONNECTOR FAILED TO LOCK DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE BASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHILD SEAT WOULD BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 PONTIAC MONTANA. THE VEHICLE HAS A 2009 BABY TREND REARFACING INFANT SEAT, MODEL NUMBER CS31029 (NA). THE SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED ON APRIL 11, 2009. THE CHILD RESTRAINT REQUIRED AN ANCHORAGE, WHICH WAS NOT EQUIPPED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY SECURING THE CHILD SEAT PROPERLY IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CHILD SEAT INSPECTION STATION, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PROPERLY INSTALL THE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTIONS. THE VIN AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 120,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BABY TREND REARFACING INFANT SEAT, MODEL 6365 (NA). THE SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED ON JUNE 19, 2008. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE WAS PUSHED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND A SECOND VEHICLE STRUCK HER HEAD-ON. THE INFANT SEAT WAS EJECTED FROM THE BASE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LATCH THAT SECURES THE INFANT SEAT INTO THE BASE WAS FRACTURED. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED, BUT THE CHILD SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE CHILD IS 14 DAYS OLD AND WEIGHS 9 LBS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED TO EMAIL A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FAILURE AND THE MEDICAL REPORT FOR THE CHILD. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BABY TREND REARFACING INFANT SEAT, MODEL NUMBER 6385. THE SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED ON MAY 11, 2008. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS POSITIONING THE CHILD INTO THE CHILD SEAT, SHE OBSERVED THAT THE HARNESS BUCKLE FAILED TO RELEASE. ALSO, THE HARNESS WAS NOT ADJUSTING PROPERLY TO SECURE THE CHILD. THE MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER CENTER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MALFUNCTION WITHOUT A PROOF OF PURCHASE RECEIPT. CURRENTLY, THE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT IS NOT IN USE BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN.
