The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES, AN IMPROPER NUT AND BOLT COMBINATION WAS USED TO CLAMP THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ONTO THE STEERING SHAFT. WITHOUT THE PROPER NUT AND BOLT COMBINATION, THE NUT CAN LOOSEN PREMATURELY AND ALLOW THE BOLT TO COME OUT WHICH COULD ALLOW THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT TO BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT.
The risk: LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL COULD OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE NUT AND BOLT COMBINATION. IF THE IMPROPER COMBINATION IS INSTALLED, DEALERS WILL REPLACE IT WITH A NEW NUT AND BOLT. IF THE COMBINATION IS CORRECT, DEALERS WILL RE-TORQUE THE EXISTING COMBINATION. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 21, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800--685-6545.

The defect: ON CERTAIN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH VEHICLE SYSTEMS' AQUA-HOT AND HYDRO-HOT WATER HEATERS, WHICH USE WEBASTO BURNER TUBES, THE BURNER TUBES DO NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS AND COULD FAIL PREMATURELY.
The risk: THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE OF THE EXHAUST TUBE EXITING FROM THE HEATER CAN INCREASE AND COULD POTENTIALLY IGNITE COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS IN OR AROUND THE VEHICLE.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERS (BURNER TUBES) WITH A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
