What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2022 BMW 230I, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
The following systems are not functioning or malfunctioning Forward Collision Warning with light braking function Pedestrian Warning with City Collision Mitigation Active Blind Spot Detection Rear-end collision preparation Parking collision warning
I purchased all available packages which include pedestrian warning in rear and front, collision warning and automatic breaks, rear collision warning, etc… none of the systems have worked except for the parallel parking assist but now it is starting to malfunction and apply the breaks 100% while I am driving or parking causing near collisions and inability to to move my car while on the road. I also purchased 5G cell service in the car and it has no cell service but says it does however it forces me to use my phone to connect to cellular service through the car. This has created many issues, one being that the gps of my car is off by a few miles to many miles, the navigation system telling me to go the wrong way, requiring me to focus on getting my phone to connect to the car while driving and causing dangerous situations.
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
