2026 BMW 550E Xdrive Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I was going down the highway at about 75 mph in middle lane in Naples, Florida on June 26, 2026. It was about 85-90 degrees. Air Conditioning was on, I was not using cruise control. All of the sudden I got a bright red Emergency Message saying the car was non-functional and to pull over immediately. It immediately slowed down and then about 2-4 seconds later it returned to normal function. No other messages flashed. Very scary; had someone been behind me or to the side there would have been a collision. I immediately took the car to a certified BMW dealer and I have not gotten the car back yet. They said they never heard of this happening. The car has about 3800 miles on it. It is a BMW 550e
