The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE WELD BETWEEN THE SIDE STAND AND THE FRAME BOTTOM SECTION WAS NOT POSITIONED PROPERLY. THE LOAD-BEARING CAPABILITY OF THE SIDE STAND IS AFFECTED. AS A RESULT, THE SIDE STAND COULD FAIL.
The risk: IF THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE WAS PARKED, THE MOTORCYCLE COULD FALL TO THE GROUND AND INJURE A PERSON SITTING ON THE MOTORCYCLE OR A PERSON NEARBY.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW FRAME BOTTOM SECTION FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 1, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.

We have been notified by Showa, the manufacturer of the front forks for the F 650 Dakar model, that one of the four mounting bolts, attaching the fork stabilizer to the fork legs is incorrect

The wiring harness of the F 650 GS and F 650 GS Dakar (R13) models is routed along the right-hand top rail of the frame. Weld spatter on the frame and/or adverse routing in the vicinity of the banjo bolt of the hydraulic spring base adjuster can result in the chafing of the wiring harness.

Discharged Battery Energy Diagnosis Must Be Performed: The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle "discharged battery" complaints. In order to properly repair the vehicle the first time in the workshop, it is very important that the diagnostic test plans are performed to completion, with all results taken into consideration. Without performing the energy diagnosis test plan, the root cause of the discharged battery cannot be identified. This increases the chances of a repeat repair.

EQUIPMENT

Leaks have been reported in fork legs. The cause is reported be from oil lubricating film with accompanying dirt/grease ring is incorrectly interpreted to be a leaking fork leg. Investigations have shown that the part is not defective.
