2009 BMW G 650 Gs Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 BMW G 650 Gs, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

RUNS FINE, THEN STALLS AT STOP, HAVE TO KEEP RPM'S ABOVE 2000 TO KEEP RUNNING, LET IT SIT FOR A TIME, THEN IT'S FINE, AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN, NEVER KNOWING WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

BMW G650GS 2009 MOTORCYCLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHEN DECELERATING. HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS. WILL START RIGHT UP AGAIN, BUT STALL AS SOON AS I RELEASE THE THROTTLE. AUTHORIZED BMW DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, BUT ISSUE PERSISTS. I FOUND A RELATED RECALL DATED 12/19/2009 - NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 09V499000 - NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE09051 - BUT DEALERSHIP SAID MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THERE IS ANOTHER RECALL FOR 2013 TO 2016 BMW G650GS MODELS FOR STALLING ISSUES. THE STALLING SEEMS TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO AN ONGOING SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THESE MOTORCYCLES AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT CORRECTED.
