What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 BMW G 650 X US Moto, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 BMW F800ST MOTORCYCLE WITH ABS. ON TWO SEPARATE INSTANCES, ON DRY ROADS, THE ABS HAS "FAILED" IN THAT THE MOTORCYCLE FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE FRONT BRAKE. ON THE SECOND INSTANCE IT WAS GOING INTO A GAS STATION WHERE THE REAR SUSPENSION COMPRESSED AND REBOUNDED, EVIDENTLY TELLING THE ABS I WAS ON A SLICK SURFACE AND REDUCING BRAKE PRESSURE AVAILABLE TO THE FRONT BRAKE! THIS INFORMATION IS IN THE OWNERS' MANUAL, THAT COMPRESSION CAN LEAD THE SYSTEM TO BELIEVE IT IS ON A SLICK SURFACE. NO ACCIDENT YET, BUT THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE IF YOU VISIT F800RIDERS.ORG. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THIS IS WORLDWIDE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW G 650 X US MOTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF EVERY TIME IT IS STARTED. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS, BUT THEY ONLY LASTED FOR A MONTH. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF EACH TIME THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. BMW OF AMERICA WILL NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT IS WILLING TO WORK SOMETHING OUT WITH THE CONTACT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
