The defect: Buell Motorcycles (Buell) is recalling certain 2021-2022 1190 RX and SX motorcycles. The index spring may be installed improperly.
The risk: An improperly installed index spring may result in the inability to shift into the intended gear, or cause the gear to slip without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will install the index spring in the correct position, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 5, 2023. Owners may contact Buell customer service at 1-616-719-5917.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
