THE REAR COG DISINTEGRATED WHILE RIDING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH). FORTUNATELY I AS THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED, HOWEVER THE BUELL SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IN THE REAR SECTION DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE REAR COG. THE PLASTICS, REAR INDICATOR LAMPS, REAR WHEEL AND FRAME WERE DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. AFTER EXTENSIVE DISCUSSION WITH THE BUELL CORP. THEY MADE THE DECISION TO REPAIR THE MOTORCYCLE AS THERE HAD ALREADY BEEN A RECALL ON THIS MODEL (2000 BUELL BLAST) AND IT HAD SUPPOSEDLY BEEN SATISFIED IN 2001 BY ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS. AS A SIDE NOTE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 3200 MILES ON IT. *NM

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
THE PURPOSE OF THIS BULLETIN IS TO PROVIDE UPDATED TP SENSOR ADJUSTMENT AND TROUBLESHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS. NLM
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
