Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2003 Buell Firebolt XB9R, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 BUELL FIREBOLT XB9R MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD BEYOND THREE FEET WHICH OBSTRUCTED THE VISIBILITY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS WERE IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
DEGRADED COATING ON HEADLIGHT REFLECTORS STARTING AS BLACK SPOTS WHICH SPREAD. AFTER REFLECTIVE COATING IS GONE THE BLACK PLASTIC REFLECTORS MELT. I USE OEM BULBS. *TR

2003 BUELL BLAST P3, ONLY 1500 MILES ON MOTORCYCLE, HAD FULL TANK OF GAS. ENGINE SPUTTERED AT DIED ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELLING AT 55MPH. VERY DANGEROUS. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER. FOUND RUBBER COUPLER SPLIT IN HALF BETWEEN THE CARBURETOR AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. WAS ALMOST KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS. USED DUCT TAPE TO TAPE THE COUPLER BACK TOGETHER. BIKE STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER DUCT TAPING THE COUPLER, DID THIS JUST TO GET THE BIKE HOME. *AK
