What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2024 Buick Envision, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
Driving and open areas or in town car will automatically break. Multiple times over 45 miles an hour and lock up the brakes then accelerate car has been in and out of the dealership 7 to 10 times1 time for 10 months straight. Vehicle collision lights have come on for side rear and front collisions when brakes lock up and then accelerate we videoed and taken pictures showing no cars surrounding during instances. The last lockup cause injuries to my son and my wife’s neck. They are seeking medical attention today.
Description of Safety Defect: While operating the vehicle at approximately 25-30MPH and make a right turn, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of power/engine stall, accompanied by a "Check Engine" light and a "Reduced Engine Power" notification. This resulted in a near-collision on a public roadway. The vehicle's steering and braking response were significantly compromised during this event, creating an immediate life-safety hazard for the driver and passengers. Dealer/Manufacturer Response: The vehicle was recently in the possession of McGovern Buick GMC Westborough for service. Despite the vehicle exhibiting an active Check Engine Light (CEL), the dealership staff pressured the consumer to take delivery of the vehicle and drive it on public roads. The service advisor admitted in writing that the CEL was active but insisted the vehicle was "feel free to drive." Furthermore, the dealership attempted to falsify internal corporate safety notes to claim the consumer "insisted" on taking the vehicle, masking a known mechanical defect. This represents a willful suppression of a safety defect by a franchised dealer, which led directly to a hazardous operating condition. Injuries/Crashes: No crash occurred, but a near-miss was documented. Passenger experienced severe emotional distress due to the sudden loss of vehicle control in traffic.

Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
Same as in the other two complaints. At one year and approximately 5000 miles I personally did the first oil change. Car was approximately 3 quarts low on oil after draining the oil for the oil change. Filled up to manufacturers recommendation. Two months later and approximately 1000 miles on the car, the car was 1 quart low. GM has a bulletin on this very issue bulletin number 01–0 6–0 1–011N. Started oil consumption test through the dealer. Dealer stated the first remedy is replacement of a valve, followed by another consumption test. Next option is replacing the engine.

The brakes engage for no reason when backing in the dark I have a video but it won't upload.

The contact owns a 2024 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and became stuck under the floor liner. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle however, the vehicle failed stop as needed. The contact pressed the park button and turned the vehicle off. The contact stated that the engine was smoking. The contact and her husband then exited the vehicle. The contact stated that it was a very scary moment due to the failure. The contact inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the accelerator pedal was stuck under the floor liner. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective floor liner. The dealer informed the contact that the floor liner needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact was informed that the repair was covered under recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 24E066000 (Vehicle Speed Control, Equipment). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
When driving on the freeway at night in intermittently foggy conditions, I attempted to adjust the automatic high-beam controls on the center console screen in the vehicle. During this attempt, as I was selecting to deactivate the auto lighting function, ALL of the vehicle lights shut off at once, and the console and screen-based instrument cluster went completely black. I attempted to stop the vehicle as quickly as possible and struck a small reflector post at the side of the road. The instrument panel and lights restarted, but his incident could have easily resulted in a catastrophic loss of control, endangering myself and others. To my knowledge, no incidents or recalls of this sort have been reported for this model, but a recall for a similar malfunction was issued in late 2023 for some models of the Chevrolet Trax, Buick Envista, and Buick Encore GX. This vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others as of yet, but an insurance claim has been issued, so such an inspection may be forthcoming. No warning lamps or warning signals preceded this complete blackout of all the vehicle's lights and the main screen/instrument cluster. This malfunction appeared without warning and, in this case, during extremely dangerous, nighttime driving conditions.
