2020 Cadillac CT6 Problems
Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component
Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2020 Cadillac CT6, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

The vehicle was shifting harshly and my wheels were experiencing lock up while in motion which was very dangerous. I experienced this on the parkway as well as streets and almost had a few accidents due to this problem. I drive my wife and children in this vehicle. Our safety and lives were put at risk. There were no warning lamps to advise of troubles. I also have some computer problems that are supposed to be addressed. Gm dealer has had my car for four months and have tried to replace valve four times and all four times the part they received was defective and unsuccessful. I have made many calls to GM and they are giving me the run around. Now they want to replace the entire transmission but wanted to use aftermarket part which more than likely is also defective. They are having a hard time obtaining a new transmission and also advised me I would be responsible for the cost of this replacement when they get a new transmission. At this point I am not willing to risk mine or my families life by driving this car after they try to replace transmission. I’m also not willing or able to pay for this repair that was no fault of mine. I am not sure how to proceed in getting them to replace entire vehicle but that is the safest option at this point.
The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac CT6. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the transmission seized, and the vehicle was coasted over to the right side of the roadway while waiting for tow service. A dealer as contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V148000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 98,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2020 I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT IN MARYSVILLE, OHIO. IT APPEARED THAT TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE, SO I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE EMERGENCY BRAKING FEATURE ENGAGED. WHILE THIS TENDS TO STARTLE YOU BECAUSE IT IS SO ABRUPT, ALMOST LIKE A HEAD-ON COLLISION, I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE DID NOT STOP THE CAR. IT WAS SIMILAR TO WHEN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING IS ENGAGED. THE BRAKES FELT LIKE THEY WERE PULSATING, SO THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD UNTIL IT PRESSED UP AGAINST THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE HAD SOME INSTANCES WHERE WHEN BACKING UP, IN A COMPLETELY EMPTY PARKING LOT OR STREET AND THE CAR WILL BRAKE ON ITS OWN. THERE ARE NO POSTS, TREES OR ANY OBJECTS LIKE THAT ANYWHERE NEARBY TO TRIGGER THE BRAKING. THE MARYSVILLE (OHIO) POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THE ACCIDENT. THE FILE NUMBER FOR THE POLICE REPORT IS 20.01993. I WAS NOT CITED BECAUSE I WAS IN ESSENCE UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR. THERE WAS PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP THE CAR AS I DON'T BELIEVE I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AT ALL. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS A WARNING APPEARING THAT INDICATES DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICE. I'M NOT SURE IT'S SAFE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE SINCE THIS HAPPENED WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
