What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Cargo Mate Eliminator, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
Reports by component
Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category
- Body & structure133.3%
- Exterior lighting133.3%
- Other / unspecified133.3%
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE LEFT FENDER FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS RESULTED IN THE ATTACHED SIDE-MARKER/CLEARANCE LIGHT TO ALSO BE TORN FROM FROM THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN A SHORT IN THE LIGHTING HARNESS. RIGHT SIDE FENDER ALSO CAME LOOSE A FEW MONTHS LATER, AND HAD TO BE REMOVED BEFORE IT FELL OFF. FENDERS ARE HELD ON BY ONLY SELF TAPPING SHEET METAL SCREW, AND DOUBLE SIDED TAPE. THIS RESULTS IN THE SCREW EITHER LOOSENING, OR BEING PULLED OUT OF THE SHEET METAL. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE IF THE ISSUE IS THE SELF TAPPING SCREWS. SEVERAL OF THESE WERE SCREWED STRAIGHT INTO THE SHEET METAL SIDE, WHERE NO SUPPORTS WERE PRESENT. ALSO THESE TYPES OF SCREWS STRIP VERY EASILY AND ARE A POOR CHOICE TO USE TO HOLD SUCH A VITAL COMPONENT ONTO THE VEHICLE. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
