2012 Cedar Creek Silver Back Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WE FIRST NOTICED WE HAD A PROBLEM WHEN WE TOOK OUR CAMPER ON A TEN DAY VACATION MY WIFE NOTICED THE CAMPER SWAYING A LOT ON THE 230 MILE TRIP. AFTER WE SET UP CAMP AND GOING TO COOK DINNER FOUND THE GAS WAS NOT WORKING, AFTER LOOKING AROUND FOUND A GAS LINE BROKEN FROM THE MAIN LINE (3/8 COOPER) I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME BUT AFTER WE GOT BACK HOME I FOUND ONE OF THE UNDER BELLY PANELS FALLING DOWN SO I PULLED IT DOWN TO LOOK FURTHER. I THEN FOUND THE TWO CROSS MEMBERS BROKEN OVER THE AXLES OF THE TRAILER ALLOWING THE FRAME TO ROLL AND FLEX CAUSING THE CAMPER TO SWAY AND THE GAS LINE TO BREAK. AFTER TALKING TO LIPPERT COMPONENTS THEY TOLD ME TO GET AN ESTIMATE SO I HAULED IT TO THE LOCALE CHASSIS SHOP AND THEY FOUND THE FRAME RAILS BOTH BENT AS WELL AS THE SPRING HANGERS AND THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR. THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE THE WAY IT WAS BUILT TO BEGIN WITH AS NEITHER COULD I, IT IS WAY UNDER BUILT FOR THE WEIGHT THE CROSS MEMBERS CAME OUT WITH NO TOOLS AS THE WELDS HAD BROKEN OFF THE FRAME. I WILL TRY AND ATTACH PICTURES AND A VIDEO SO YOU CAN SEE AS WELL AS THE EMAILS I HAVE HAD WITH LIPPERT TELLING ME I DID THE DAMAGE. HTTPS://GOO.GL/PHOTOS/WDHPWEGSUHSIKBE68 ONCE YOU REVIEW I CAN SEND THE EMAILS THANKS FOR YOUR TIME JOSH.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
