2007 Cedar Creek Trailer Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Cedar Creek Trailer, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA ODI NUMBER 06E076000 AND THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF MY RV, FOREST RIVER. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT EITHER PLAYTIME RV OR COMPLETE RV SERVICE TO REPAIR THE RECALL ON MY DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR IN MY 2007 CEDAR CREEK RV. THE LETTER STATED THE REPAIR WOULD BE AT NO CHARGE. PLAYTIME RV (704-489-0105) HAS ELECTED NOT TO MAKE THE REPAIR, AND COMPLETE RV SERVICE (704-489-1515) WILL CHARGE ME $75. ACCORDING TO THE SUBJECT LETTER FROM FOREST RIVER, THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT YOUR AGENCY IF I EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS OR EXPENSE TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY RECALL. *TR

THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO A CONCERTONE 5.1 DOLBY SURROUND SYSTEM MODEL ZX600 INSTALLED IN MY 2007 CEDAR CREEK SILVERBACK TRAVEL TRAILER MANUFACTURED BY FOREST RIVER INC. I PURCHASED THIS NEW TRAVEL TRAILER IN MARCH 2007 FROM TOM JOHNSON CAMPING IN CONCORD, NC. INCLUDED AS A $360 OPTION WAS THE SUBJECT CONCERTONE UNIT. SINCE PURCHASING THIS CAMPER, THE CONCERTONE UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES BY TOM JOHNSON CAMPING, BECAUSE THESE UNITS FAILED TO OPERATE AFTER 6-9 MONTHS. THE CURRENT UNIT IN MY TRAVEL TRAILER WAS REPLACED BY TOM JOHNSON EARLIER THIS YEAR. CONCERTONE HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THE CURRENT UNIT IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT OPERATE. AFTER BEING IN THE RADIO FUNCTION FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, IT ERRATICALLY AND LOUDLY MOVES BETWEEN THE RADIO FUNCTION AND LOAD A DISK, AND THE LIGHTS ON ITS DASHBOARD FLASHES ON AND OFF. WHEN I TRY TO SHUT THE UNIT OFF, IT SOMETIMES POWERS DOWN, AND SOMETIMES NOT. WHEN I'M ABLE TO POWER THE UNIT DOWN, IT WILL POWER UP ALL BY IT SELF, AND ONCE AGAIN MOVES ERRATICALLY AND LOUDLY BETWEEN THE RADIO FUNCTION AND LOAD A DISK. I HAVE CUT OFF THE 12 VOLT POWER SOURCE TO THIS CONCERTONE UNIT BY REMOVING ITS 15-AMP FUSE. MY RECENT EXPERIENCE CAUSES ME TO HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN WITH AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE THAT RANDOMLY POWERS UP AT WILL AND OPERATES ERRATICALLY WHEN I'M NOT AT HOME. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM LAST WEEK TO TOM JOHNSON CAMPING AND FOREST RIVER INC, AND THEY BOTH HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
