2020 Coachmen Apex Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Fire reported

It burned down while I was at my moms house next door. It never even threw a breaker or fuse when we went outside yhe AC unit had started the fire, by the time we saw it the roof ac in room was collapsing. I unplugged the main cord and the breaker never tripped nor did the fire and issue cause a surge of power next door. I haven’t went into it yet I lost everything I had in there and we will be filing with insurance tomorrow.

WE PURCHASED THIS TRAVEL TRAILER (NEW) 3 YEARS AGO. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES AND HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS A TOTAL OF 17 WORK ORDERS AND IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE AXLES AND TIRES HAVE CLEARLY NOT LINED UP SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT. WE HAVE ASKED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO LOOK AT IT SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE AXLES, EXCEPT ONE TIME THEY SAID THEY WERE PUT ON UPSIDE DOWN. THE TIRES DO NOT LINE UP AND WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THE FLOOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND NOW SOME OF THE TIRES ARE COMPLETELY BALD AND OTHERS LOOK PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW. AT THIS POINT WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE TOW IT. IT ALSO DOES NOT TOW "EVENLY". IT PULLS TO ONE SIDE. WE'VE ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUT TO COACHMEN, THE MANUFACTURER OF THE AXLES, AND THE CAMPER SALES TEAM (WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND HAVE TAKEN IT EVERY TIME FOR SERVICE) TO HELP WITH THIS ONGOING ISSUE. WE WERE JUST TOLD BY THE SALESMEN WHERE WE PURCHASED THIS CAMPER THAT WE WILL BE TAKING AT LEAST A $10,000 LOSS ON THIS TRAILER EVEN WITH TRADING IT IN FOR ANOTHER CAMPER THROUGH THEM. THIS CAMPER HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT. I DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE "LITTLE" THINGS, BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS STRUCTURAL ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN DISMISSED TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THE CAMPER DOES NOT TOW STRAIGHT, SOME OF THE TIRES ARE BALD, AND THE TIRES CLEARLY DO NOT LINE UP APPROPRIATELY.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
