What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Coachmen Royal, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 COACHMAN ROYAL. THE VEHICLE HAS A DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR, MODEL RM2852. WHILE ON A CAMPING TRIP, THE CONTACT'S REFRIGERATOR BEGAN TO LEAK. TWO DAYS LATER, HE OPENED THE REFRIGERATOR AND NOTICED THAT EVERYTHING ON THE INSIDE WAS SPOILED. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, HE DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR THE SAME FAILURE; HOWEVER, HE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT HE DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE BECAUSE HE IS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. DOMETIC STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE WOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED THE FACT THAT HIS REFRIGERATOR FAILED. DOMETIC REFUSES TO EVEN TRY TO REPAIR THE REFRIGERATOR UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS COMPLETELY RUINED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT IF HE WOULD HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON TIME, THE DEFECT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. UPDATED 09/24/08. *LJ UPDATED 09/29/08
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
