What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2023 Dodge Challenger, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
Have a crack that started from A pillar without any indication of any hit on the windshield. Took to dealer and they checked and agreed it has no chip that started the crack and there are numerous reports of 2023 Challengers windshields cracking for no reason in the exact same spot. Dealer tried to get a good will done through Stellantis and they denied the claim because it was over the 12 month warranty
The front windshield spontaneously cracked from the A frame. This is dangerous because it weakens the windshield and can impair vision. Multiple people online have complained about the same issue with their 2023 Challengers. I had it fixed at my dealership and through my insurance for an exorbitant amount of money. I contacted Stellantis and they tried to get in contact with the dealership but I dont believe they did. It doesn't appear they ever did their own investigation nor did they ever respond to my requests for reimbursement. I think this should be investigated given the number of claims online about this issue and that it appears to be a manufacturer defect. In all the cars my family and I have had over the years, none of them ever had an issue like this.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
As described in the 05-001-22 bulletin, my brakes are making a clicking noise when reversing or turning at low speeds. A bulletin has been issued for every year except 2023 (my car’s year) for the same issue.
So this is not about an actual incident that occurred but is more so about about an issue with a manufacturer ive uncovered , being a mechanic and working primarily on dodge vehicles ive noticed at least for the last 2 years of modules the part numbers they list for their car line have not had the correct modules in them , in my own case I needed a module for my own car ,Ive bought 2 from junkyards using dodges own service library and the cars vins they came from that were once on the road and both cars had the wrong module numbers , I have since ordered a brand new module using the exact part number from a dealership brand new in the box and that module is also not the correct part number..my concern is who else is driving these cars from at least the last 2 years with the wrong module in the car, I have read all 3 modules using witech dodges own software and all 3 are not the ones that are supposed to be in them..I also know there are 152 on backorder of the correct ones that should have been in them with 0 being made...im not really one for conspiracy but this is kinda crazy. I know for sure that things like vehicle weight and stuff are programmed into these and the wrong calibration of that alone could easily cause the system to not function as designed causing crashes that could have been avoided if the system were functioning properly , the part number in question should have been 68399772AE,68399772AF and if they ever get a supplier for the latest revision they list that part number is 68399772AG, the supersession they list is from at least 2021 model years forward so it may have been even longer but I only have proof for the 23 year cars.the cars affected are chrysler 300, dodge challenger and dodge charger all trim levels as far as I've seen should have 68399772AE and none do. The file uploaded is a picture of a brand new 68399772AE out of the box and what was actually in the box. I have more of junkyard car modules that also weren't correct.

I purchased a DODGE 2023 CHALLENGER SRT HELLCAT WIDEBODY JAILBREAK with manual transmission in October 2023. In April of 2024 I noticed that the AC did not work when the vehicle was NOT in motion and the OUTSIDE temperature was more than 90 degrees. I took it to a local dealer ship and they kept troubleshooting the vehicle with Dodge and could not fix the issue. Come to find out, all 2023 manual transmission Challenger Hellcats have the same issue. This is effecting approximately 628+ vehicles. Dodge Care states they are aware of the issue and are working on it internally, however no ETA or timeline has been given to the customers of the affected vehicles. Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
Windshield stress crack. From driver side A pillar across the windshield. Widely known factory defect issue. Causing many windshield replacements. No impact, no chips. This was due to improper bonding of the windshield during manufacturing, and body flex of the vehicle.
2023 Dodge Challenger was parked and not running. Opened driver's door and windshield cracked from pillar on passenger side. No prior stone chips, no prior cracks. Car had less than 3000 miles when crack occurred. Appears that windshield was not properly bonded to the vehicle. Paid Safelite $348.03 for windshield replacement.

Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The engine is malfunctioning. It is available for inspection. When you accelerate the vehicle, the engine goes into limp mode then it goes into neutral and you have to find a safe place on the side of the road to pull over shut it off and restart it. It's very very dangerous. Yes, Vatland Chrysler Dodge in Vero Beach. After it first malfunctioned the engine light came on and it's been on ever since. The dealership Vatland Chrysler can't get authorization from corporate to repair it and the vehicle is sitting and unsafe to drive.

Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
Passenger seat will not lock into place, even while driving or stationary causing concern as this becomes a safety issue.
The passenger side seat does not return to the "home" position when the "easy entry" handle is used to enter the rear seat from the door opening (the vehicle is a 2 door). Therefore, the seat slams into the knees of the passenger seated behind the passenger causing injury. Therefore, after the rear passenger enters, when the front passenger tries to return the seat to its starting position, the seat slides along the rails all the way till it hits the final stops. This happens regardless of the starting position of the seat along the rails. So, for example, if the seat is adjusted to be all the way forward, once the easy entry handle is used, the seat will slide all the way back on the rails and will lock in the final position. The only exception seems to be if the seat back is returned to its home position first, prior to sliding the seat back. Even in that case, the seat still slides back further than its initial home position. if passengers aren't careful, the vehicle begins to move before the seat is locked into position, and now, with the full weight of the front passenger, the seat slides back and crashes into the knees of the passenger causing injury.

I am reporting a serious public safety concern involving Walmart Auto Care Center in Waterford, CT, after tire installation on my 2023 Dodge Challenger. Walmart installed four new Michelin tires on 05/12/2026 after Walmart.com order #[XXX]. On [XXX], a missing front passenger-side locking lug nut was discovered. I photographed the missing lug nut area and reported the issue to Walmart. When I returned to the Waterford Walmart Auto Care Center on 06/12/2026, the Tire/Lube department manager stated that Walmart associates do not tighten or torque locking lug nuts because of a prior incident where a locking-lug key broke inside a customer’s wheel. This was never disclosed to me before service and was not posted for consumers. On 06/24/2026, the same department manager confirmed that statement in front of an assistant store manager during a recorded in-person interaction. During that same interaction, after I stated the vehicle has five lug nuts per wheel, the assistant store manager stated words to the effect that I could safely drive with only three lug nuts. My concern is not only reimbursement. This appears to be a serious vehicle safety issue: customers may be leaving a tire service department with missing, unsecured, or untorqued locking lug nuts, without being warned that all lug nuts were not properly secured. Lug nuts secure the wheel to the vehicle. A wheel or tire assembly failure at roadway speeds could endanger the vehicle occupants and the public. I have scheduled an independent inspection with Karns Automotive for 07/06/2026 to evaluate Walmart’s tire work and related wheel-safety concerns. Walmart Ethics/Safety reference: [XXX]. Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
I know this has probably been posted. Driving last night with the wife and I smell fuel. Then the gas gauge starts to drop from full to empty in less than 3 minutes. I pull over, the car shuts down. I see fuel on the passenger side , just in front of the tire. Get the car safely towed home. I pop the back seat and remove the access cover for the fuel pump. See picture. This is how I found the fuel line. The green locking tab was not locked. Even though theirs a green paint mark to confirm the fuel line is secure. Obviously not. The locking tab barely engages and is so easy to move to the unlocked position with no effort at all. Stellantis should be embarrassed that a vehicle left their plant in an unsafe condition. Either the locking tab was not engaged fully or in my opinion a terrible design. It should lock with some effort. With the high pressure the fuel system is under there should be a better locking mechanism. This is a poor design. My car is not modified, has only 2,000 miles on it and has never been tracked. To me a design flaw or piss poor installation tech is responsible. The car could have caught on fire and hurt someone if it was in my garage. These lines should use aircraft style fasteners for the fuel lines, especially at the top of the pump. I have seen at least 12 other instances like this online. That means there are many more. There needs to be a recall that changes the fuel pump and a much more reliable fastening and locking system. These car were and are not cheap. I’ve never complained here or anywhere. I really enjoy the car. But now my confidence in the vehicle’s safety is very much in question. When I called Chrysler roadside assistance they said I couldn’t get a two until Monday 11-3. WTH! @DodgeCares sounds like you don’t really care. The BMW dealership that I have bought two cars from where out in 30 minutes to help and get me and my car home.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
