What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Dodge Durango, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
Vehicle: 2006 Dodge Durango VIN: [XXX] Issue Type: Fuel System / Safety Hazard Description: During refueling, the vehicle repeatedly shuts the pump off and then sprays gasoline back out of the filler neck, creating a fire and injury hazard. This is a known defect covered under Dodge Customer Satisfaction Notification X39, which extends warranty coverage for the inlet check valve / ORVR failure on 2006–2008 Durango models. The symptoms match the documented defect exactly: pump shutoff, fuel expulsion, and fuel spray. This occurs at multiple stations and with different pumps. Stellantis customer service and local dealers have been unresponsive and will not acknowledge X39 unless forced. The defect poses a clear safety risk to me and others nearby during refueling. I am requesting NHTSA involvement to ensure Stellantis honors the X39 warranty extension and addresses this fuel system hazard. Safety Risk: Gasoline sprays out under pressure, contacting the vehicle, ground, and the person refueling. This is a fire hazard and exposes the user to fuel on skin and clothing. The condition is unpredictable and dangerous. Requested Action: Require Stellantis to inspect and repair the vehicle under CSN X39 and ensure compliance with the documented unlimited‑time warranty extension for this defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Fuel spills out when you fill it up. I read there were safety recalls due to this issue for 2006 Dodge Durango's but a recall isn't appearing for my vehicle. When filling it fills fine until almost a full tank. Once it reaches full tank the gas pump clicks off then a gush of fuel spills out of my car. I bought it last year and it does it every time we put a full tank in it if you don't catch it and manually shut pump off before full. Bought the car used
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
TIPM / PCM (Computer modules) these items are affecting most Dodge vehicles that is listed already for recalls only in 2011-2013 and one earlier. This is happening in a lot of Dodges, mine is 1D4HB48N76F[XXX] (2006 Durango 4.7 SLT). They will stop running anywhere, it shuts the fuel pump off where the vehicles no longer gets gas and you have a full tank. It is only a computerized Dealer fix. Their recall for some vehicles will fix my 2006 also by the simply relay bypass that they are installing. PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Been losing power to the car while driving which cause me to lose my steering ability and the 4 wheel drive keeps kicking on and off while driving plus the wiper motor works sometimes and sometimes it don’t. The navigation system comes on and off whenever it wants to and the rear end keeps popping
Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle abruptly merged into his lane in front of him, prompting him to rapidly decrease speeds. However, the vehicle ahead was too close; as a result, the contact collided with the rear of the other vehicle, forcing his vehicle to careen to the shoulder of the roadway before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. The air bag warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V313000 (Air Bags); the VIN was included, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 231,000

In the winter of 2020 i had to use my 4wd lock in my durango. It never come out of 4wd lock. As a former ase technician and auto center manager I have to say dodge has a mess on their hands. 1st off its ridiculous to stop the flow of technical information to the owners of chrysler vehicles due to globalization!? I have been working on this vehicle for months as my patience allows. All testing and troubleshooting place the issue back into electrical issues within these durangos. This is a dangerous problem so many people own older dodge & chrysler products affected by this transfer case problem, recall it and get it done! Now it has to go to a chrysler dealer to have the codes cleared by a dodge scanner. Issue with that is the local dodge dealer in the village i live is not known for honesty. I took my durango there when i had issues with security system. I was told it would need a $1000. computer to start, then maybe another $1000. I took it home put a security module in it, been driving it since. Hold Chrysler accountable, do something for these thousands of people who own nice looking nice running dodge products they can't drive due to transfer case issues, and its not just one issue, there are several issues & components in that system that are troublesome!!
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN SNOW, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOSS BRAKING FUNCTIONALITY FOR A SHORT WHILE HOWEVER, THE FUNCTIONALITY RETURNED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A COUNTRY ROAD ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE DIED AND SHE HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES AND HAD TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN SHE TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD LIGHT BUT THE STARTER WOULD NOT CRANK THE ENGINE. SHOP SAYS THE COMPUTER HAS FAILED. *TR

HEAVY RAIN WHEN WIPERS ARE ON VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WIND SHEILD WIPERS
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
design issue on rack and pinion assembly. Basically metal transfer pipes on side of assembly rust out. This is my second Durango 2006 model to have this problem. Complete loss of steering assist occurs because of loss of power fluid out of fore mentioned pipes. The pipes cannot be repaired, entire rack and assembly must be replaced. Exposure to road salt is cause of rusting as assembly is totally exposed under vehicle. Stainless steel pipes are a better way except to bean counters.
Been losing power to the car while driving which cause me to lose my steering ability and the 4 wheel drive keeps kicking on and off while driving plus the wiper motor works sometimes and sometimes it don’t. The navigation system comes on and off whenever it wants to and the rear end keeps popping
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
HIL ADDING GAS, THE FUEL OVERFLOW DOES NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FULL. GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE TUBE AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE DURANGO AND ONTO THE GROUND. THERE IS CONSIDERABLE RUSTING UNDER THE FILL TUBE. I PURCHASED THSI VEHICLE 4 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS ALWAYS DONE THIS. THE RUST AREA HAD BEEN REPAIRED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING SO I AM ASSUMING THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE MY OWNERSHIP AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER LEAKING INTO THE MOTOR, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THE DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSIS COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
MY DASH PANEL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS OF MY YEAR BUT MY VIN WAS INCLUDED. THIS NEEDS TO BEE LOOKED AT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND COMING TO A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AT 60 MPH WHEN RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE THROTTLE REMAINED WIDE OPEN WHEN RELEASED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF TO BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE THROTTLE STARTED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE ON POSITION AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS FORTY DEGREES OR LESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
TRANSFER CASE MOTOR ACTUATOR ENGAGES UPON UNLOCKING THE DOORS USING THE WIRELESS REMOTE ENTRY REMOTE, ALSO WHEN USING MY TRUNK OPENING BUTTON FROM THE REMOTE SOMETIMES THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR WILL ACTUATE THE TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES SHIFT ITSELF INTO 4 WHEEL LOCK AND 4-WHEEL LOW SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHILE I'M IN DRIVE THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AT SPEED IT CREATES AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT CAN CREATE A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER TO THE VEHICLE CAUSING AN IMMINENT CRASH. BY THE TRANSFER CASE ENGAGING 4-WHEEL DRIVE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT CREATES A VIOLENT COLLISION BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT AND THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSFER CASE CAUSING TRANSMISSION AND AND TRANSFER CASE FAILURE AND LOSS OF POWER TO THE VEHICLE WHAT CAN CAUSE A COLLISION THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR YEARS FROM 2002 AT LEAST 2008 DODGE DURANGOS AND DODGE RAMS I AM A FORD STST SENIOR MASTER CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE GOVERNMENT YET THIS IS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR AND DODGE NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THIS MALFUNCTION THE PROBLEM LIES WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE MODULE BETWEEN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE THEN IT'S SPLICES OFF AND PIGGYBACKS TO THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THOSE THREE LEGS THERE IS A PROBLEM WHETHER IT BE IN THE MODULE THE WIRING OR BOTH AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. BEINGS THAT I AM A TECHNICIAN, I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MOTOR ACTUATOR AND FULLY EXAMINED ALL THE WIRING RUNNING TO IT AND FROM IT AND FOUND NO SHORTS TO GROUND NO FRAYED WIRES OR GROUND FAULTS THIS IS SIMPLY A COMPUTER RELATED MALFUNCTION AND DURING THE MALFUNCTION IT DOES NOT THROW A DTC FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SO THERE'S FOR A TECH TO SCAN.
AWD 5.7 HEMI, THE 4LO BLINKING WHILE DRIVING ON BOTH HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET AND WHEN I UNLOCK MY DOORS YOU COULD HEAR SOMETHING ENGAUGING WHEN THE VEHICAL WAS OFF. THE 4LO LIGHT FLASHES AND YOU CAN HEAR IT SWITCH UNDER THE CAR EVEN WHEN IT IS OFF. WHEN, I UNLOCK MY DOORS YOU CAN HEAR IT AGAIN.
Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE CONTACT SWERVED TO AVOID A CAT WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL, BALL JOINTS, AND STRUTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT CAUSED HIM TO RECEIVE STITCHES ON HER LEFT INSIDE UPPER LIP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED THERE IS A NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION SWITCHING IN AND OUT OF ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND SWITCHING BACK TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE BY ITSELF. ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN PARKED ONLY SO FAR. I'M AFRAID COULD SWITCH DURING DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED ALSO WHEN HITTING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT ANOTHER CAR WAS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING BESIDE MY TRUCK. I SOON REALIZED IT WAS MY VEHICLE MAKING THIS NOISE ISSUE?
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE VEHICLE SURGES AND MAKES A RATTLING SOUD WHEN EXCELLING. FEELS LIKE IT'S LOSING POWER. IT DELAYS STARTING WHEN THE IGNITION IS ON. THE SUSPENSION FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO SNAP. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND AIR BAG LIGHT IS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL/CLUSTER.

Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS), BUT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE SAFETY RECALL. THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT OF THE AIR BAG SAFETY RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE REAR SEAT BELTS PERTAINING TO THE PLASTIC PIECE FRACTURING CAUSING A FAILURE IN WHICH THE SEAT BELTS WERE NOT PROPERLY RETRACTING AND SECURING. THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT PLASTIC PIECE WAS ALSO DETERIORATING AND TO THE POINT OF FRACTURING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE WHAT PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I AM THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE PURCHASED IN 2006. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED ANY CRASHES MINOR OR MAJOR. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CONDITION WOULD BE CONSIDERED EXCELLENT, EXCEPT WHAT IS NOTED BELOW. BROKEN LATCH PLATE PLASTIC COVERS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND MIDDLE SEATS. THE BELTS FOR THESE SEATS WILL SLIDE AT WILL, MOVE FREELY AND NOT PREVENT THE OCCUPANT FROM GOING UP OR FORWARD IN A VEHICLE CRASH. BOTTOM-LINE, MY MUTLI-PASSENGER VEHICLE IS ONLY SAFE FOR THE DRIVER TO OCCUPY. I HAVE MULTIPLE PICTURES OF THESE BELTS IF REQUESTED.

Reports naming the automatic or manual transmission, including shifting behaviour, shudder, slipping and transmission control modules.
From owner reports, verbatim
OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO 4X4 SLT IS IN THE SERVICE DEPT FOR THE 2ND TIME IN TWO WEEKS FOR A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I AM TOLD THE "TRANSMISSION SOLENOID" AND "TRANSMISSION FILTERS" NEED TO BE REPLACED. TWO WEEKS AGO, A "TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH" NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE WHEN THE DURANGO'S "TRANSMISSION CHECK LIGHT" CAME ON. SHORTLY LATER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AS THOUGH IT WAS LOSING POWER. IN BOTH SITUATIONS, THE DURANGO EXITED THE FREEWAY BUT BEGAN TO JOLT FORWARD AND BACKWARD. IN BOTH CASES, MY WIFE (2ND SITUATION) AND I (1ST SITUATION) BARELY MADE IT HOME AND TO THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A CLEAR SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE... AND IT LOOKS TO BE MANY MORE MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE (SAFETY BULLETIN #0803006; ITEM #10021239). THESE SITUATIONS COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS SAFETY RESULTS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ISSUE. PLEASE RESPOND WITH DETAILED INFORMATION REGARDING THE REFERENCED SAFETY BULLETINS AND ITEMS #'S. THE PARTS ARE ON BACK-ORDER FOR 1+ WEEKS AND WE DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS VEHICLE GOING FORWARD... EVEN WHEN/IF IT IS "REPAIRED". I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT CHRYSLER IF THEY WOULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO NY, FL, MYRTLE BEACH, OR THE TN MOUNTAINS AFTER IT IS REPAIRED... IT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED. SAFETY RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR DURANGO TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
2006 DODGE DURANGO SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT KEY INSTALLED IN IGNITION. MY THREE YEAR OLD SON CLIMBED UP INTO THE DRIVER SEAT AND SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT A KEY, AND ROLLED DOWN A HILL WITH JUST HIM IN THE CAR AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY HURT BUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE. THERE IS A RECALL OUT THERE FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE , AND MODEL DURANGO BUT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED, THE RECALL IS FOR A "SHIFTER PAWL IMPROPERLY INSTALLED". THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP BEING REPAIRED AND PHOTOS OF THE ITEM WILL BE TAKEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TORN APART. FOR SOME REASON CHRYSLER DENIED MY CLAIM TO ASSUME FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THEY STATED MY VEHICLE HAD 90,000 MILES AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, ALTHOUGH IT WAS THERE MISTAKE THAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT TO BEGIN WITH. THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE VERY WELL HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 80,000 MILES, BUT KNOW ONE EVER TRIED TO SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK BEFORE WITHOUT THE KEYS. TOTAL DAMAGE TO CAR HAS NOT BEEN TOTALED YET, BUT IS ESTIMATED TO COST $5,000 TO $8,000 DOLLARS. *TR

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED, THE SEAT MOVED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT FAILED TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS) AND 06V044000 (AIR BAGS). THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,282.
THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF WHEN DRIVING LEAVING US TEMPORALLY BLIND IN THE DARK, AND ALSO THE WIPERS WORK ERRATICALLY, THEY WILL EITHER COME BY THEM SELVES FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN TURN OFF, OR DURING RAIN STORMS THEY WILL WORK ERRATICALLY. THEY WILL WIPE FAST FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN SLOW DOWN TO A 2 OR 3 SECOND DELAY BETWEEN WIPES UNDER HEAVY RAIN WHEN THE SWITCH IS SET TO HI, THEN THEY WILL GO FAST AGAIN FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN SLOW AGAIN. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY WIFE DRIVING MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE RAIN. ALSO THE RADIO AUDIO TURNS ITS SELF DOWN WHILE DRIVING WHEN NOBODY TOUCHES THE CONTROLS, AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DO NOT CONTROL THE AUDIO. I THINK IT IS ALL A CONNECTED ISSUE WITH A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING WHICH AGAIN I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT DODGE CLOCK SPRINGS BEING FAULTY ON WWW.DODGEFORUM.COM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY AND CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO MALFUNCTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

A/C IN MY BRAND NEW 2006 DODGE DURANGO DOESN'T COOL DOWN PROPERLY DURING DAYTIME OPERATING HOURS. WE LIVE IN TEXAS AND WE BOUGHT OUR DURANGO IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH DUAL A/C. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP COMPLAINING THAT THE CONDITIONED AIR FROM THE VENTS, EVEN WHEN THE CONTROL IS IN THE MAX POSITION, IS ONLY AMBIENT AT BEST. I KNOW WHAT COLD AIR FEELS LIKE! THIS IS TEXAS! THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT BECAUSE OF ALL THE GLASS AND LARGE FRONT WINDSHIELD CAUSES THE INTERIOR TO HEAT UP AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN. HOWEVER THE A/C COOLS DOWN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE VERY RAPIDLY IN THE EARLY MORNING AND LATE EVENING HOURS OF THE DAY WHEN THE SUN ISN'T AS INTENSE. *NM
AIR CONDITIONING NOT COOLING PROPERLY. TESTED VENT TEMPERATURES IN IDENTICAL CONDITIONS USING AN INFRARED TEMPERATURE PROBE AND A NORMAL ANALOG TEMPERATURE PROBE. USED 1997 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER IN TEST WITH MY NEW 2006 DODGE DURANGO. TESTED INITIAL LEFT CENTER VENT TEMP AND THE TEMP AFTER 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 5 MINUTES USING THE DASH VENTS ONLY AND MAX COOL AND MAX FAN. THE NINE YEAR OLD MOUNTAINEER VENT TEMP WAS 9 OR 10 DEGREES COOLER AFTER 5 MINUTES. THE OLDER VEHICLE COOLED FASTER AND PROVIDED COLDER AIR TEMPS. THIS TESTING WAS DONE AFTER NOTICING THE DURANGO WASN'T COOLING AS WELL AS MY OLD MOUNTAINEER. *JB
