TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DUCATI 996BIP. WHILE RIDING 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT PULLED IN THE CLUTCH AND DRIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO A SERVICE STATION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE SERVICE STATION MECHANIC ADVISED HIM TO HAVE THE FUSES CHECKED. THE FUSES WERE INTACT. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THERE WERE OIL RELATED FAILURES AND THAT THE OIL WAS NOT THE PROPER OIL HE SHOULD BE USING. THE MANAGER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,400.

CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL NHTSA 99V360000/MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 99V360000 CONCERNING WHEELS: DISC: SPIDER. DEALER STATED THAT MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO SEND PART/ TOOL TO DEALERS TO CHECK TO SEE IF CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED. IN FACT, THERE IS ONLY ONE PART/TOOL MANUFACTURED WHICH CAN DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS PART/TOOL WILL BE SEND BY MANUFACTURER FROM STATE TO STATE. AFTER EACH STATE HAS INDIVIDUALLY INSPECTED THE VEHICLES/ MOTORCYCLES SOLD IN THAT STATE, THE PART/TOOL WILL BE SHIPPED TO DEALERS. *AK
