2010 Ducati F1098 Streetfighter Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2010 Ducati F1098 Streetfighter, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I WAS RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE, A 2010 DUCATI STREETFIGHTER, WHEN THE ENGINE CUT OUT WHILE I WAS LEANED OVER IN A SLOW TURN (10-15MPH). THE ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY LOCKING UP THE REAR WHEEL, AND BECAUSE I WAS IN A TURN, IT CAUSED THE REAR WHEEL TO SLIDE, CAUSING ME TO WRECK MY MOTORCYCLE. THE ENGINE OF A MOTORCYCLE SHOULD NEVER, EVER TURN OFF WHILE RIDING (I DID NOT RUN OUT OF GAS, TURN THE IGNITION KEY OR TOUCH THE KILL SWITCH). THIS DEFECT COULD HAVE KILLED ME, HAD IT HAPPENED IN THE CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. I HAVE CONTACTED DUCATI NORTH AMERICA, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM THEM. PREVIOUSLY THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURED 3 OR 4 TIMES TO ME WHILE RIDING, BUT NEVER WHILE IN A TURN, SO IT DID NOT CAUSE ME TO CRASH. I NORMALLY JUST RESTARTED THE BIKE AND DROVE ON. I DID NOT REALIZE THE DANGER OF LOCKING UP THE REAR WHEEL UNTIL IT HAPPENED TO ME. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
