What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Ducati Monster 696, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DUCATI MONSTER M620 DARK MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND APPLYING THE THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE PROCESS WAS REPETITIVE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE WAS REPLACED. TEN DAYS AND TWENTY MILES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,300.
MY DUCATI HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK WHICH HAS BEGUN TO EXPAND AND DEFORM. THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS OF THE TANK HAVE INCREASED AND IT NOW DOES NOT SIT CORRECTLY IN THE FRAME ESPECIALLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE, THE HANDLEBARS HIT IT ON TURNING, AND IT PRESSES AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH. PREVIOUSLY IT OPENED AND CLOSED WITHOUT PROBLEMS, NOW I HAVE TO WEDGE IT AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH TO CLOSE IT. THE RIGHT RUBBER MOUNT NO LONGER SIT ON THE FRAME AND THE LEFT MOUNT IS BEGINNING TO SPREAD TOO. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED MY MOTORCYCLE EXCEPT SOME COSMETIC CHANGES. I HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE FUEL TANK OR FUEL PUMP. I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE DEALER WHO SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO DUCATI NORTH AMERICA (THE IMPORTER/FACTORY) AND THEY REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TANK. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS TO THE SAFETY OF THIS MOTORCYCLE NOW. THE NEW TANK IS SWELLING HAS MADE IT SO THE HANDLEBARS DO NOT TURN CORRECTLY. IF THE TANK SWELLS ENOUGH, IT WILL SPLIT OPEN OR BECOME UNSTABLE ON THE MOTORCYCLE AND I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE I AM RIDING. *TR
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
