2018 Fccc Xcm Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The dashboard on this has turned a very bright LIME GREEN. It is very hard to drive this at night because it is severely blinding to see the road. I have contacted Freightliner and Winnebago and I keep getting the run around. This happened when this was still under warrantee and I have been trying to get someone to help me.

The contact owns a 2018 Freightliner XC-R Raised Rail Rear Engine Motor Home Chassis. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the rear wheels were moving in the opposite direction other than what was intended. Due to the failure, the contact needed assistance from another person outside the RV to safely maneuver the RV while reversing into a parking spot. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was instructed to drop the tag axle which would lift the weight off the axle, allowing the RV to operate as needed while in reverse(R). Despite the manufacturer's instructions, the failure persisted. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,500.

The contact owns a 2018 FREIGHTLINER XCM. The contact stated that the valve stem stabilizers on the driver’s and passenger’s side rear tires would dislodge without warning. The contact stated that each time he noticed that the valve stems had dislodged, he would manually adjust the valve stem stabilizers back in place. The contact had taken his motorhome to a dealer for a separate issue and was informed of a recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V194000 (Tires) which was linked to the valve stem stabilizer failure. Upon leaving the dealer, the contact was informed that the recall was performed; however, the contact noticed that the valve stems were dislodged again once he returned home. Over time, the contact stated that the valve stem stabilizer on the passenger’s side rear tire had rubbed against the rim which caused the tire to run flat. The contact had the tire replaced by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that because a modification was made to the vehicle, they would not repair the vehicle under the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200.
