The defect: FERRARA RECALLED 3 FIRE TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH CATERPILLAR ENGINES. THE EXTENSION PIPES ATTACHED TO THE AFTERTREATMENT REGENERATION DEVICE (ARD) MAY DEVELOP A HOLE, AND HEAT AND FLAME MAY ESCAPE DURING A REGENERATION OF THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER.
The risk: THIS MAY RESULT IN A FIRE HAZARD.
The remedy: FERRARA IS WORKING WITH CATERPILLAR TO HAVE THE VEHICLES REPAIRED (PLEASE SEE 08E054). OWNERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO HAVE THESE VEHICLES REPAIRED.
