What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2005 Fleetwood Gear Box, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FLEETWOOD GEAR BOX TRAVEL TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM DOMETIC REGARDING HIS REFRIGERATOR AND THE FATIGUE CRACK THAT MAY DEVELOP IN THE BOILER TUBE. THE NOTICE ALSO INDICATED THAT IF A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION IS RELEASED IN AN AREA WHERE GAS OR FLAMES ARE PRESENT A FIRE COULD OCCUR. A FLEETWOOD DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR KIT IS ONLY A HEAT SHIELD TO CONTAIN THE FIRE AND REPAIR THE CRACK. DOMETIC ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY INSTALL A HEAT SHIELD TO PREVENT A FIRE.

STOCK FUEL FILTER LEAKING GAS! CALL FOR REPLACEMENT AND WAS TOLD TO GET RID OF THE FILTER AND REPLACE WITH A FITTING, BECAUSE "THAT FILTER IS A FIRE HAZARD." THIS GENERATOR IS THE 5500 GOLD THAT IS INSTALLED IN MANY RVS, AND IS MADE BY CUMMINGS. THE CUMMINGS DEALER IS SLC, UT IS THE ONE THAT TOLD ME ABOUT THE FIRE HAZARD. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND THE LEAK BEFORE THE UNIT CAUGHT FIRE WITH MY FAMILY IN IT. THE MANUAL RECOMMENDS USING THE GENERATOR WHILE DRIVING. I FEEL CUMMINGS SHOULD RECALL THESE UNITS AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! *TR
