Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

WELD BROKE ON WHEEL ON OUR RV AND DAMAGED THE DRIVER SIDE OF OUR 5TH WHEEL AND ROLLED DOWN THE ROAD THE ENTIRE CENTER OF THE WHEEL CAME UN WELDED ON AUGUST 9, 2009 WE WERE ON VACATION WITH OUR RV AND AS WE PULLED OUT OF A RV CAMP GROUND A WHEEL CAME OFF OUR 5TH.WHEEL AND OF COURSE DID SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. FORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 55MPH AND IT DID NOT DAMAGE ANYTHING BUT OUR COACH. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE WHEEL AS YOU WILL SEE FROM THE ENCLOSED PICTURE. THE PROBLEM IS THE MANUFACTURER TREDIT WHEEL AND TIRE OUT OF ELKART, INDIANA SAID THIS WAS JUST A FLUKE AND REFUSED TO CHECK OR REPLACE ANY OF THE OTHER WHEELS THERE FOR LEAVING THE LIABILITY ON THE CONSUMER. I WILL HAVE NEW WHEELS PUT ON THE COACH TO PREVENT THE POSSIBILITY OF ANOTHER DEFECT AND POSSIBLY INJURING ANOTHER PERSON. I WILL HAVE THE REMAINING OLD WHEELS INSPECTED FOR ANY OTHER DEFECTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THERE ANY GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS REGARDING SAFETY OF VEHICLE WHEELS AND SHOULD THIS COMPANY BE INVESTIGATED FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE SO THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE AND MAYBE INJURE OR KILL A BYSTANDER OR ANOTHER MOTORIST. IT WAS TOLD TO US THAT THIS WAS A USA MANUFACTURED WHEEL I AM UNABLE TO ATTACH THE PICTURE WITH THIS E-MAIL. *TR
