2000 Ford Aerostar Problems
Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Ford Aerostar, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

COIL SPRING ON DRIVERS SIDE BROKE AND WAS SITTING ON TIRE, DEALERSHIP TOWED VAN AND CHARGED ME $415 PLUS TAX, THE VAN IS A LITTLE OVER 850 MILES OVER ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND NO RECALL FOR THE YEAR 2000. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE SPRING BROKE IN MY DRIVE AND NOT GOING DOWN THE THE EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MILES AN HOUR, OR WHEN MY DAUGHTER, WHOM JUST RECIEVED HER DRIVERS PERMIT WAS DRIVING. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT I HAD MY VAN IN FOR SERVICE ON 7/01/05 FOR NOISES IN THE FRONT END AND VIBRATIONS WHILE DRIVING. DEALER REPLACED SWAY BAR, AND BALANCED TIRES. (VAN WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY) THIS TOOK CARE OF SOME OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT END OF THIS VAN. THE TIE RODS HAVE BEEN REPLACED A NUMBER OF TIMES. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FORD TIE RODS AND ONCE MY WARRANTY WAS UP I SHOULD HAVE AFTER MARKET TIE RODS INSTALLED. SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX.
