The defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR HOME CHASSIS AND HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE TIE ROD ENDS AND/OR DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY ENDS THAT COULD HAVE INSUFFICIENT HARNESS IN THE BALL STUD.
The risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN PREMATURE WEAR AND, POTENTIALLY, SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM ITS SOCKET.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TIE ROD ENDS AND/OR DRAG LINK ASSEMBLIES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 27, 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE RV WHICH MOUNTS ON A HEAVY DUTY CHASSIS HAS BEEN RECALLED, #00V246111. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO HONOR THE RECALL; THEY DETERMINED THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO THIS SPECIFIC CHASSIS. THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS OBSERVED WITH THE STEERING SYSTEM HOWEVER THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT THE REMEDY SHOULD BE APPLIED TO PREVENT THE PROBABILITY OF AN ACCIDENT
