2016 Ford Stripped Chassis Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

2016 Ford F-53 cut-away for my class a motorhome. When driving the parking brake and ABS yellow lightning bolt would illuminate periodically for no reason. Only way to "remove" this was to pull over, stop, place in park and then restart engine. Became more frequent as vehicle aged. Initially believed to be a concern with parking brake contact but unsuccessful with its repair early on in ownership. I am original owner of this motorhome. Found through RV online forum that ABS was possibly deactivated during this time of illumination and software update needed from Ford. Broadway Ford in St Louis repair on 3/15/23 was "verified concern. ecc test, c149d. check oasis tab 16-0042. performed pcm calibration update", per their invoice. If TSB and repair is known why is recall not issued for such a known problem and ABS concern?

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
