The defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2014 Crusader fifth wheel trailers, model CSF315RST, manufactured September 26, 2013, through March 3, 2014. In the affected trailers, the slide room actuator bracket may come into contact with the tire under certain road conditions.
The risk: If the bracket comes in contact with the tire, sudden tire failure may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a replacement bracket that will adequately clear the tire, free of charge. The recall began on April 17, 2014. Owners may contact Forest River at 1-574-862-3001.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
