2017 Forest River Shasta Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WE ARE A DEALER AND HAVE SEEN 5 UNITS WITH THIS ISSUE, SHASTA HAS COVERED REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY BUT HAS NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS/DEALERS OF THE ISSUE OR ISSUED A RECALL. THE WIRING FOR THE MARKER AND BRAKE LIGHTS PASSES THROUGH THE FRAME UNPROTECTED NEAR THE REAR OF THE UNIT AND RUBS. AFTER APROX 500-1500 MILES THE WIRE WEARS THROUGH CAUSING A SHORT. TWO UNITS HAVE HAD THE WIRES MELTED TOGETHER CAUSING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THE MARKER AND BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL WITH THE POTENTIAL OF A FOLLOWING VEHICLE NOT KNOWING THE UNIT IS STOPPING AND CAUSING A REAR ENDING COLLISION OR CAUSING THE TRAILER TO NOT BE SEEN AT NIGHT CAUSING A COLLISION.
