2009 Four Winds Hurricane Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 2 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2009 Four Winds Hurricane. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

I WAS IN AND OUT OF OUR CLASS A MOTORHOME LOADING IT FOR AN UPCOMING TRIP. I WENT TO GO OUT THE DOOR AND IT WAS LOCKED. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE ONLY DOOR IN THIS MODEL. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE WITH THE KEY BUT NOTHING WORKED. THE NEIGHBORS CAME OVER TO HELP BUT NO ONE COULD GET THE DOOR OPEN EITHER INSIDE OR OUT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO CRAWL OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ONTO A LADDER. I AM 72 YEARS OLD! COME TO FIND OUT THE TRI MARK LOCKS THAT ARE ON THIS MODEL ARE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR LOCKING PEOPLE IN OR OUT. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO DRILL THE LOCK OUT AND FOUND OUT THAT THE MECHANISM INSIDE HAD BROKEN WHICH KEPT IT IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND YOU COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR! THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THESE CLASS A MOTORHOMES ONLY HAVE ONE DOOR!!
