The defect: ON CERTAIN UTILITY TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH RFD WHEELS, THERE IS A DEFECTIVE WELD OF THE WHEELS CENTER HUB TO THE WHEEL RIM.
The risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN A WHEEL SEPARATION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: RFD IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN (PLEASE SEE 05E031). RFD WILL REPLACE THE WHEELS ON THE AFFECTED TRAILERS. OWNERS MAY CONTACT RFD COMPONENTS AT 1-574-295-3939 OR STIGERS AT 1-502-875-1084.

The contact owns a 2022 Gator Made Trailer. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the message “Check Trailer Brake Wiring” was displayed, and the trailer brake failed to engage as needed. The trailer was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed but no issues were found. The trailer was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the trailer needed to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 20,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A GATOR MADE FLATBED TRAILER ATTACHED TO MULTIPLE VEHICLES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WEIGHT LABEL ON THE TRAILER HAD THE INCORRECT AXLE WEIGHT. THE LABEL INDICATED 12,000 LBS, BUT THE ACTUAL WEIGHT WAS 10,000 LBS. THE CONTACT STATED THE AXLE ON THE TRAILER BENT WHILE TOWING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE TRAILER WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THEY WOULD PROVIDE A NEW STICKER FOR THE TRAILER. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE. *BF *TR
