What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1993 General Tire 295/75R22.5, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

MY 2001 FORD EXCAPE HAS 27,600 MILES ON IT. MY TIRES HAVE WORN OUT FROM THE OUTSIDE IN. I CARRIED IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. MY DEALER SAID I HAD RECEIVED A CHECK BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. I DID NOT. I DROVE IT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. NOW I HAVE TO BUY OVER $400 WORTH OF TIRES AND HAVE AN ALIGNMENT. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE HAD A PRETTY GOOD LICK FOR IT TO HAVE ALL 4 OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I DO NOT HOTDOG THIS CAR. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT
TIRE TREAD COMPLETELY CAME OFF LEAVING ONLY SIDEWALLS ON THE RIM. THIS HAPPENED INSTANTLY WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED. GM DEALER SAYS TIRE ONLY WARRENTED UNDER THE 36 MONTH BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. GENERAL TIRE DOES NOT WARRANT TIRES THAT ARE OME. (TIRESIZE: 215/70R15)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 215/70R15 )
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
