2022 Genuine Scooter Niu Mqigt Evo Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

My NIU NQI GTS Pro has the same problem that the NIU EVOs were recalled for. One or both batteries will suddenly turn off causing a drop in speed. I am confident this is a firmware problem. This is a major safety concern. I believe the GTS Pros need to also be included under the recall. I have filed a lawsuit against the dealership I bought it from and NIU seeking a full refund and return. https://niustore.com/products/nqigt

The throttle has become unpredictable at best. First a check engine light and error 142 code appeared, then the throttle issues began. Sometimes the scooter wouldn't move at all, sometimes the throttle only works at the halfway point, and worst is at times the throttle goes from 0 to 100% no matter the throttle position. The sudden acceleration is particularly scary as this electric scooter has a top speed of 70mph.

At higher speeds including over 40 mph the handlebars vibrate excessively requiring holding it with both hands, and being difficult to safely signal with my arms if sometimes needed. It is difficult to drive without both hands firmly holding onto the handlebars, even briefly. The NIU MQI GT EVO had a recall associated with the excessive vibration, and the NIU MQI GT has the same body just different power but has not been recalled.
