The defect: Global Environmental Products (Global) is recalling certain 2021-2022 M4 (M4, R4, M4 HSD) and M4 CNG sweeper vehicles. The steering gears may have been incorrectly assembled, which can cause the gears to fracture.
The risk: A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Global will replace the steering gears, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 24, 2022. Owners may contact Global's customer service at 1-909-703-1600.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
