What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2005 Gooseneck 5TH Wheel Trailer, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

FIFTH WHEEL ANDERSEN ULTIMATE HITCH SYSTEM FAILED WHILE WE WERE HAULING OUR UNIT. HITCH BROKE AND SAFETY CHAINS ALSO BROKE. UNIT WAS BLOWN OFF THE TRUCK WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE BALL TO BREAK SHEAR OFF DETACHING FROM TRUCK. COMPANY IS NOT WANTING TO DEAL WITH OUR INCIDENT. CAUSED OUR FIFTH WHEEL TO DETACH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ROLLED OVER. WE WERE HAULING UNDER WEIGHT TO WHAT THERE HITCH RECOMMENDS TO STAND 24,000 LBS OF TORQUE. WERE JUST ASKING FOR SOME HELP. OUR NEW $84,000 UNIT IS A COMPLETE LOSS AND OUR TRUCK IS IN THE COLLISION SHOP BEING REPAIRED. THANK YOU*DT*DT CONSUMER STATED MECHANIC DID NOT FIND ANY DAMAGE.*JB*DT*JB*DT*JB*DT*JB
I OWN A 26' 25,900LB GVW GATORMADE GOOSENECK TRAILER BOUGHT NEW IN JULY OF 2012. IT HAS 10K LB LCI AXLES UNDER IT THAT WERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, THE ARE CROOKED. ALONG WITH DOG TRACKING DOWN THE ROAD, TIRES ARE BEING WORN UNEVENLY AND EXTREMELY FAST AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED 10X AS FAST AS THEY NORMALLY WOULD. THE MAJOR ISSUE THOUGH IS THAT BECAUSE THE AXLES ARE INSTALLED CROOKED IT IS PUTTING EXCESSIVE STRESS ON THE WHEEL BEARING. AT THIS TIME 3 OR THE 4 WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE FAILED, ALL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH EQUIPMENT ON. THE WORST WAS THE 2ND WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH DOWN A STATE ROUTE, LOADING WITH A 14K LB BULLDOZER, WHEN THE BEARING FAILED, CAUSING THE HUB AND SURRENDERING PARTS TO GET EXTREMELY HOT. WITHOUT WARNING 2 TIRES BLEW OUT. THE TRAILER WENT SWAYING SIDE TO SIDE, ALMOST HITTING ONCOMING CARS. VERY FORTUNATE FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK AND TRAILER SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. THE MANUFACTURER (GATORMADE TRAILERS OUT OF SOMERSET KY) HAS DONE AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I'VE PAID OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO REPLACE AND REPAIR THE TIRES, BEARINGS, AND AXLE. BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE. GATORMADE REFUSES TO HELP
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
