2013 Harley-Davidson Fld Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Harley-Davidson Fld, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DOING 60 MILES PER HOUR THE LEFT STORAGE CASE JUST FELL OFF. WE WERE LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS RIDING BEHIND US AND THIS DIDN'T CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS BUT IT EASILY COULD HAVE. WE HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS AND THE SEVERAL PEOPLE AT HARLEY AND WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. WE TRIED TO TALK TO HD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT IT ISN'T THEIR PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE RIDING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT WITH A GROUP OF OTHER RIDERS, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER TO MOTOR. THROTTLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ANY RIDER INPUT. HAD TO PULL BIKE OVER ONTO SHOULDER. ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WERE INITIALLY UNSUCCESSFUL, AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS ENGINE STARTED FINE. SAME BEHAVIOR OCCURRED AGAIN IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY IN THE GREATER SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. DEALER STATES I MUST HAVE HIT THE POWER BUTTON, WHICH I AM COMPLETELY SURE DID NOT HAPPEN. I KNOW OF AT LEAST TWO OTHER OWNERS OF THIS SAME MODEL THAT HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
