2014 Harley-Davidson Flhp Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2014 Harley-Davidson Flhp, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON RUSHMORE MODELS LOSING THE SPEEDOMETER/TACHOMETER CLUSTER AND CRUISE CONTROL WHILE OR AFTER RIDING IN THE RAIN. THIS HAPPENS TO ME AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON SEVERAL MOTORCYCLE FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER WENT OUT WHICH ELIMINATED MY ABILITY TO DETERMINE SPEED, CONTROL CRUISE CONTROL, AND DETECT THE STATE OF MY HEADLIGHTS, DRIVING LIGHTS. THIS CLEARLY AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO OPERATE THE MOTORCYCLE SAFELY.

THE SHIFT LINKAGE ROD THAT CONNECTS THE FOOT SHIFT LEVER TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT ROD LEVER HAD THE SPLINES STRIPPED WHICH MEANT THAT WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP I WAS NO LONGER IN CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NEARLY BRAND NEW, HAVING LESS THAN 15K MILES ON IT, AND IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED. ALL TORQUE VALUES WERE CORRECT AND THE LINKAGE ROD WAS REPLACED ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE MOTORCYCLE TO A DEALER. PART NUMBER 15 WHERE IT CONNECTS TO PART NUMBER 16 IN THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT.
