2001 Harley-Davidson Flhtc Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 7 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2001 Harley-Davidson Flhtc. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

DT: THE ENGINE IN THE MOTORCYCLE WAS MAKING NOISES. THE CONSUMER SPOKE WITH DEALER ON THIS MATTER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A NEED FOR REPAIR BUT IT WOULD BE AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. THIS WAS A REGULAR MAINTENANCE ITEM BUT THE FACTORY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. THE CAM CHAIN TENSIONERS WERE WEARING TOO SOON. CONSUMER MADE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THE REPAIR. *JB CAMSHAFT DRIVE/BEARING WERE REPLACED. *TT

THE GAS GAUGE DROPS NORMALLY FROM "FULL" TO APPROX. '1/2 FULL', THEN IN NO CONSISTENT MANNER (TIME OR MILEAGE WISE)...IT DROPS TO 'EMPTY'. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO HAVE NO RELIABILITY ON THE FUEL SYSTEM AND HE/SHE MAY END UP STRANDED IN A REMOTE AREA OR STALL IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS DUE TO FUEL GAUGE INACCURACY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED TO HARLEY, BY MULTIPLE FLH (AND OTHER FLH MODEL) OWNERS. THANKS. *AK
