VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE VEHICLE 4 TIMES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE STALLING. ALSO, AT 5,000 MILES VEHICLE HAD A GAS LEAK. THE SOURCE OR CAUSE OF THE LEAK WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK
TWIN CAM REAR CAM BEARING FAILS-HARLEY APPARENTLY DOESN'T KNOW WHICH BIKES HAVE WHAT BEARING IN THEM AND WON'T RECALL FOR INSPECTION EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF FAILURES ON 1999 AND EARLY 2000 MODEL YEAR ENGINES. SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD COST LIVES. DO SOMETHING PLEASE TO AT LEAST REQUIRE THE INSPECTION SO THAT A RIDER AND PASSENGER HAS THE KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL RIDE A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT BOTH HARLEY AND THE NHTSA KNOWS ARE UNSAFE. RUST WAS FOUND ON THE INSIDE OF THE OIL TANK WHICH CONTAMINATED THE OIL WHICH RUNS THROUGH THE ENGINE, AND THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON LONG TRIPS (OVER 2 HOURS). THE CARBURETOR HESITATES AND POPS. NLM
