What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Harley-Davidson Flsti, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

MY WIFE AND I WERE RIDING DOWN TO THE KEYS OF FLORIDA FROM NC WHEN JUST BEFORE ENTERING THE FLORIDA STATE LINE A LOUD PANGING NOISE STARTED IN THE MOTOR. I TOOK THE BIKE TO ADAMECS HARLEY DAVIDSON OF JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY TELL ME THE LOWER MAIN BEARING HAS EATEN INTO THE CASE OF THE MOTOR. PRETTY MUCH THE MOTOR IS SHOT. I'VE BEEN A H.D. OWNER-RIDER FOR 33 YEARS. I TAKE THIS BIKE TO THE H.D. DEALER FOR REGULAR SCHEDULE SERVICES AND RUN ONLY H.D. SYNTHETIC OIL. I'VE NEVER HAD A BOTTOM END GO OUT TILL NOW. WITH ONLY 52000 MILES I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD NOW EITHER. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED I'VE BEEN TALKING TO PEOPLE AND HAVE ALREADY COME UP WITH 4 OTHER PEOPLE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. I THINK HARLEY DAVIDSON HAS A DEFECT BEARING OR SOMETHING DOWN THERE. *TR
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
